Looking at all the hype about new programming languages being generated these days, I decided to look into some of the unconventional modern generation languages apart from the mainstream languages like C, C++, Java, Python, Perl, PHP, Ruby. Here is a list of languages that you can look into for the learning in free time or otherwise, listed by order of usefulness in application terms. They all are very different in their own ways and stimulate interest and curiosity.
1. Haskell
2. Erlang
3. Io
4. PLT Scheme
5. Squeak
6. oCaml
7. Conjure
8. Lua
9. Factor
10. Scala
This list is not exhaustive and just lists possibly interesting candidates (there are way too many languages out there to keep track of) . True programmers look for simpler ways to get things done exploring different paradigms of programming and methods. This a step to assist them in the right direction.
